These include:
Biscuits (Kraft/Nabisco) ALL imported from China
Home brand tinned fruit and vegies (South Africa/China/Thailand etc)
Home brand sauce bases… (Thailand/New Zealand)
Garlic. Most coming from China…
Fresh fruit. Much of it replaced across stores… (varying amounts admittedly…)
Fruit Juice. Made from “IMPORTED and Australian produce”
Kids “cartoon character juice” ALL from PRC. Peoples Republic of China
Please advise as they have spent the last couple of years replacing and removing products from many different Australian suppliers…
Note about post: I had posted this but it looks as though it was removed from their wall within about 3 minutes…
In fairness they have since responded with this:
Good question, Business Resources.
Coles and Woolworths are licensed to use the Australian Made logo on particular house brand products which meet the necessary criteria.
They also use the Australian Made logo widely instore and in catalogues to help shoppers identify Australian items - particularly fresh produce, meat and seafood.
We need to keep in mind that produce is seasonal, so sometimes it’s not possible to source garlic or varieties of fruit all year round.
Also, the Australian Made logo can’t be used with a claim such as made from imported and local ingredients.
Hope this helps you out? If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to call our office on 1800 350 520.
To which I replied with:
Thank you… I appreciate you getting back to me on this… I’m not entirely thrilled and understand issues with seasonal produce but it is good to know that you’re vigilant on how its being used.
Lane.
